Application for the certificate of Mexican nationality for those born abroad who are children of Mexican parents born in national territory.


You can apply for your Mexican nationality certificate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) if you were born abroad and are the child of one or both parents who are Mexican and were born in national territory, and if another country considers you as its national and you intend to assume a public office or function for which it is required to be Mexican by birth and you have not acquired another nationality.

The application DNN-1 must be filled out in type or by hand with black ink in legible block letters.

Original and Copy Birth certificate issued by the Mexican civil registry office.

If the registration of the applicant's birth or that of the parents is late (after the first year of age), the applicant must present any of the following documents:


Certified copy of the marriage certificate of the parents issued by the Mexican civil registry office, if they were married in national territory and before the birth of the applicant.


Certified copy of the birth certificate of an older brother issued by the Mexican civil registry office, if he was born in national territory and registered within the first year of age.


Certified copy of the birth certificate of the Mexican father or mother issued by the Mexican civil registry office, registered during the first year of age.


Certificate issued by the immigration authority, of the date of entry into the country of the foreign father or mother, if this occurred before the date of birth of the interested party.


Notarial comparison copy of the religious record, if such act was carried out during the first year of age and in national territory. Original.
